Nicole Aravena (owner/director) is a graduate of the New York City High School of Performing Arts (Fame School) as well as William Esper Studio for Drama. She performed in the world premier of "Footloose" and was the recipient of many dance titles and special awards for her technique and dramatic performances.
On the international level she was a soloist on the United States of America National Tap Team. She traveled to Germany in 1998 to compete in the World Cup Tap Dance Championships where she was ranked fifteenth in the world as a soloist and brought home a silver medal with the team.
While living in New York City, Nicole studied extensively at Broadway Dance Center. Later she was also placed on the staff under tap master Germaine Salsburg. She spent her summers teaching and judging for national dance competitions and conventions.
Nicole recently has been certified by Dance Masters of America (DMA). DMA is an international organization of dance educators that are certified by test to teach. As a choreographer, Nicole has been rewarded on various occasions both regionally and nationally. Most recently, she won the title of "Young Choreographer of the Year" through American Dance Awards in Rhode Island for her piece, "All the Little Horses." In addition. Nicole brought home the High Score Choreography Award from the 2004 Access Broadway National Competition in Orlando, Florida. The last two years Nicole has been the resident choreographer for Brewster Central School District's musical productions, "West Side Story," "Les Misérables," and "The King And I."
After a number of years in the dance and acting world, Nicole realized her true passion lies in teaching what she loves to others. In 2002, she founded the Seven Star School of Performing Arts with the goal of offering quality performing arts education in the Brewster area. The curriculum at the school includes preschool, recreational, and adult programs as well as pre-professional programs. Subjects offered include: jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, acrobatics, modern, pointe, lyrical, voice (private as well as group), drama, film and television, musical theater.
The faculty at the Seven Star School of Performing Arts is a unique team of qualified professionals, many certified by test to teach. Many have worked professionally on Broadway, in dance companies, on television, and throughout the entertainment industry. They are dedicated to offering your child the best performing arts education possible.
